Commission Consultation
Before getting started on your design, there are a few things we will work through together to help create a custom piece that fits you. You don’t need to have everything nailed down, but at least give these things some thought so that we can discuss them in our consultation.
Commission Process rundown
So how does all this go? This is the first step, a consultation for both of us to gather information. We will cover the details of the process, talk about inspiration, colors, etc. This is free, with no obligation to move forward.
Next is design and revisions. A $200 deposit is required at this stage, and will go toward your total invoice. Using what we covered in the consultation I will create 1-3 designs for you to review. If you have notes or tweaks, we can do one round of revisions and reassess.
After the design has been chosen its time to build! At this point you will receive an invoice, and contract outlining all of the project needs and terms. You are welcome to visit the shop and see how its all made (if you’re local).
Finally, your window is installed and color and light are shining all around you!
Ok back to the consultation…
First things first: budget.
Understandably, most people don’t know how much stained glass windows go for, and the truth is there’s no one size fits all answer. Many factors go into pricing, from the glass thats used, to the size and complexity of the design. So what we will do is start with discussing what you want in your piece (with the help of this guide), and I will create some options for you to consider, both in design and budget.
If you have a budget in mind that you need to stick to, lets get it out in the open! Talking about this up front will inform what can be accomplished in the design.
inspiration
Gathering some reference material is super helpful! You can make a Pinterest board, use an Instagram folder, cut up magazines, anything that communicates the vibe that you’re looking for. This can be actual stained glass that you like (note: I will not recreate another artists work), but any sort of imagery can work to convey colors you like, home decor style, maybe a design on a piece of fabric, or tiles? Etc, etc.
